Start here

You are a member of the Ninth Company, garrisoned at Ashfall Keep, holding a mountain pass for a kingdom that stopped sending pay four years ago. No order has ever discharged you. You are, technically, still on duty.

That is the whole premise. You already know everyone here, you already have a reason to be here, and nobody has to be talked into anything.

Making a character

Any D&D 5th-edition character up to level 5, from the SRD. One rule: they are a member of the garrison, or attached to it. A soldier, a cook, a chaplain, a scout, a prisoner who was never released — all fine. Two lines of backstory is plenty and more than most people manage.

Make it under Characters, then come back.

Posting

Open the Roleplay tab and pick any thread that is open. You do not need permission and there is no party to join. Write what your character does; if it needs a roll, say so and roll it — the dice tab is right there, and every roll is on the record.

There is no schedule. Post when you have ten minutes. A thread that goes quiet for a week is a thread that was resting, not a thread that failed.

If you get stuck

Post out of character. The OOC kind exists for exactly that, and asking "what can I see from here?" is a normal thing to do.
